Slow Cooker Beef Shank in Red Wine
Beef shank braised low in red wine until it falls off the bone — patience turns a humble cut into a feast.
Ingredients
- 3 lbs White Rock Farm beef shanks
- 2 cups dry red wine
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, smashed
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Season shanks with salt and pepper, sear in a hot skillet.
- Place vegetables in slow cooker, top with shanks.
- Add wine, broth, tomatoes, and herbs.
- Cook on low for 8 hours until meat falls off the bone.
- Serve over mashed potatoes or polenta.
